Rainy Days

I had to kiss my plans for today goodbye after it started to pour down with rain, I’m talking pelting and beating. Still, I decided to do some spring cleaning and update this blog.

This rain has persisted since yesterday, I caught the early afternoon bus back home and it started to spit and light drizzle as we made our way up to Pahoa. By the time we got to Hawaiian Beaches area and close to where I get off it really started to pour.

For the past few days I’ve been exploring all the really sweet vintage shops this island has to offer. I also finally got to see the Ben Franklin store which is for real die hards like myself. I didn’t bring my camera along for fear of getting it wet from the incessant and unpredictable rain. Last week on tuesday I counted that it rained 7 times in one day! 7?? Well, at least it’s a holy number. I took some pics of my “haul” it was more of a mini haul.

I got to visit ‘Sally’s’ – the local Salvation Army store. I found some great bargains! And I found a sweet little shabby chic shop and got my hands on bagfuls of genuine vintage fabric for bargain price. Since it is raining today and I am housebound I’m going to post some pics up of my try hard first attempt at embroidery and the pattern that I picked up from Walmart.

Check out the hand made deep purple shawl the color reminds me of this bird that flew into the living room years ago when I suspected I was pregnant. As soon as this bird ended up in the living room (and stayed there for 2 whole days) my suspicions were confirmed. I knew I was pregnant and later had it confirmed by the doctor. I believe I made this purchase mostly because I have tried looking for the color of that beautiful birds coat. This is the closest I can get.

Luckily for me I also picked up a DVD for the first season of one of my all time favourite shows: The Golden Girls! Cheering!! 25 episodes of Dorothy, Rose, Sophia and my favourite; Blanche Devereaux. So it’s time to hit the hoop (um…embroidery that is), put the kettle on, sit back and relax to watch a few (or more) episodes of The Golden Girls.

I could learn a thing or to from you, Your a real pro I know with kind of stuff. I’m just looking at the photo & DIY. We’ll see. I’ll be doing some stuff on the bus/plane – it’s that kind of art/craft to do isn’t it. Rainy day stuff.

    • Aloha! Angela,
I’m not sure why that happened?? I’m so glad you are checking my blog for updates, I really try to put a lot of effort into it. I’m limited with certain options because I’ve not bought the full package and I’m still navigating my way through. I hope to be a real expert soon. I’ve had a few blogs as you know but just go overwhelmed by all the “widgets” “face” & what not – I’ll get there. Anyway I really appreciate your support as an Artist, it’s a real privilege. Aloha.
